The Lyrical Noise Ensemble is a dynamic contemporary music duo dedicated to the exploration and promotion of challenging new works for clarinet and percussion. Formed in 2016 by two of Cyprus’s most versatile and acclaimed musicians, George Georgiou (clarinet) and Marios Nicolaou (percussion), the ensemble quickly established a reputation for its “energetic and inspirational performances”.
Driven by a commitment to innovation, the Lyrical Noise Ensemble consistently champions the music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Their diverse repertoire includes significant works by minimalist icon Steve Reich, avant-garde master Iannis Xenakis, and a growing number of pieces commissioned from emerging composers around the world.
Both Georgiou and Nicolaou bring extensive international experience to the duo. They are active members of several other ensembles, including the Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble and the Ergon Ensemble, and are central figures in Cyprus’s contemporary music scene. They hold teaching positions at the Arte Music Academy and serve as Musicians-in-Residence at the Avaton Contemporary Music Festival.
The ensemble also actively participates in international projects such as Interfaces, which aim to engage new audiences with contemporary classical music.
