ILINM Launches The Intensive Summit: ILINM Campus Summer Academy in Cyprus
The International eLearning Institute for New Music (ILINM) proudly announces the inaugural Cyprus edition of The Intensive Summit: ILINM Campus Summer Academy, to be held in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 26 June to 1 July 2026.
As ILINM’s flagship international residency and festival initiative, ILINM Campus is dedicated to advancing contemporary music through artistic exchange, education, research, and international collaboration. Presented locally under the title Cyprus International Academy for Young Composers, the programme establishes a new platform for creative dialogue and cultural engagement in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The inaugural edition brings together emerging composers, internationally recognised artists, performers, educators, and cultural organisations from Cyprus and around the world. Through a hybrid programme of educational activities and public performances, ILINM Campus seeks to foster experimentation, encourage the exchange of ideas, and support the creation of new artistic works.
The educational component of the Academy, including lectures, presentations, and mentoring sessions, will be delivered online, enabling participation by internationally renowned composers, artists, and specialists from across the globe. The festival’s public programme, including concerts and artistic events, will take place in person at several cultural venues throughout Nicosia, creating a dynamic meeting point between international contemporary music discourse and the city’s cultural life.
Over the course of one week, the festival programme will unfold across some of Nicosia’s most significant cultural venues, including the Severis Foundation – CVAR, Spiles Gallery (Skali Aglantzias), Eleftheria Square, ARTos House, and the Arte Music Academy. Audiences will experience a diverse programme encompassing contemporary chamber music, experimental performance practices, improvisation, and world premieres.
The programme features internationally acclaimed ensembles and soloists, including the Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Lyrical Noise Ensemble, Swiss improvisation artists Christian Kobi and Tomas Korber, Cypriot flautist Eva Stavrou, and Swiss-Swedish cellist Karolina Öhman. The Academy also welcomes distinguished composers and mentors representing a broad range of artistic perspectives and cultural backgrounds, including Mark Andre, Christina Athinodorou, Oscar Bianchi, Mehdi Hosseini, Klaus Lang, Andreas Tsiartas, and Deqing Wen, among other prominent figures in contemporary music.
The Cyprus edition of ILINM Campus reflects ILINM’s long-term commitment to developing sustainable international networks and creating meaningful opportunities for artistic mobility and collaboration. Through strategic partnerships with local institutions and international organisations, the programme aims to strengthen the visibility of contemporary musical creation in Cyprus while connecting it to the broader global ecosystem of new music.
Beyond its inaugural edition, The Intensive Summit: ILINM Campus Summer Academy is envisioned as a lasting cultural platform that promotes artistic excellence, encourages interdisciplinary exchange, and contributes to the development of contemporary music as a vital and transformative force within society.
The festival is supported by the Deputy Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus, the Municipality of Nicosia, and the Embassy of Switzerland in Cyprus. The Academy is realised in collaboration with Culturetones, the Arte Music Academy, and the Center of Cypriot Composers, together with a broad network of cultural institutions, local organisations, and individual contributors, including the Cyprus Musicological Society, ISKRA, Korniza Baroque, Attica Holidays, and Philenews as the festival’s media partner, among others.
