This in-person residency offers an immersive creative experience that combines individual mentorship, ensemble collaboration, and live performance.

Each participant will take part in:
● Three individual lessons with different ILINM tutors, each offering distinct artistic and technical perspectives.
● An online consultation prior to arrival, providing preparation and feedback on pre-submitted material.
● An ensemble reading and rehearsal of their work with professional musicians, leading to a final concert performance.
● A 45-minute online presentation of their recently completed work, allowing for critical discussion and feedback.
● Daily lectures, workshops, and guest presentations open to all participants.

The Summer Academy emphasizes collaboration, exploration, and performance. Participants will leave with a refined composition, new professional experience, and lasting connections within the contemporary music community.

For this edition, the ILINM Campus welcomes three resident ensembles and a featured soloist: Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble, Duet Lyrical Noise Ensemble, Konus Quartett, and cellist Karolina Öhman.

Composers are invited to write or submit for one of the following lineups:
● Chamber ensemble of up to six instruments: flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, percussions, piano, violin, cello (2-6 performers);
● Saxophone quartet (2-4 performers);
● Duet: clarinet/bass clarinet, percussions;
● Solo instruments: flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, saxophone, piano, violin, cello.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the Summer Academy, participants will be able to:
● Develop and refine a new composition through live rehearsal and performance.
● Collaborate effectively with professional musicians and ensembles.

● Present their work confidently in a live concert context.
● Expand their professional network within an international community of composers and performers.

Who Can Apply:
This program is open to emerging composers interested in developing new works in a collaborative, performance-based environment. Applicants should demonstrate a solid foundation in composition and an interest in interdisciplinary or ensemble-based creation.

Recommended Background:
Applicants should have:
● Prior experience writing for acoustic instruments or mixed ensembles.
● Basic familiarity with score preparation, and rehearsal processes.
● An active interest in new music practice and artistic exchange.
A portfolio including 2–3 representative works (scores and, if available, recordings) is required as part of the application.

Technical Requirements:
● Applicants should be able to prepare professional-quality scores and parts before the submission deadline.
● Scores must be delivered in PDF format; parts in individual files clearly labeled.

Online Learning Guidelines:
Prior to the on-site residency, each participant will attend one online consultation session. A reliable internet connection, webcam, and microphone are required for this preparatory meeting.

Travel Requirements:
For students traveling to Cyprus to attend the ILINM Summer Academy, the Academy can provide an official invitation letter confirming participation in the program. This may assist participants in applying for a short-stay visa (if required) at the nearest Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus.

Please note that an invitation letter from ILINM Academy does not guarantee visa approval. The decision to issue a visa rests solely with the Cypriot authorities processing the application.

ILINM will assist participants with accommodation offers and local logistics. After acceptance, students will receive additional information and options to help plan their stay.

● Travel, accommodation, living costs, and visa expenses are the sole responsibility of the course participants.

● Full tuition for the semester course: 390 Euros (includes all lessons, ensemble sessions, and performance participation);

The Campus is built on creative exchange. You’ll be living and working alongside a peer group of international young composers, sharing ideas daily in workshops and lectures, and building a professional network that lasts long after the week ends.

Which ensembles will be performing my work?
The 2026 edition features collaborations with two resident ensembles: the Chronos Contemporary Music Ensemble (Cyprus) and the Konus Quartett (Switzerland).

What if I need a visa to travel to Cyprus?
We will provide you with an official invitation letter to support your visa application. Our team will also guide you on accommodation options. Please note that the visa process and associated costs are your responsibility, and we recommend applying early.
